Data ScienceGrace Hopper Awards
The Anita Borg Institute believes that women are vital to building technology that the world needs. Each year they hold the 'Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference' in different cities throughout the country and last year's conference was sold out in record time!
Thanks to the generosity of WPI Dean of Graduate Studies Terri Camesano, Ph.D. and Dean of Arts and Sciences, Karen Oates, Ph.D., four women from the WPI Data Sciences Program were offered the first ever Data Science Travel Award 2015 to help them attend this amazing conference. http://gracehopper.org/
Our four recipients, Tabasssum Kakar, Chitra Pichaimutta Kanickaraj, Yanpu Li and Suwodi Dutta Bordoloi will have two very full days of total immersion in workshops on Artificial Intelligence, Human Computer Integration, Gaming and Animation, Free and Open Source Software and Oh, so much more.
Upon their return, they will give a presentation to the Data Science class on what they brought away from their experience at the Anita Borg Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference.
Congratulation ladies!
