One responsibility we all share is being considerate to those who live in our surrounding neighborhoods around WPI. WPI students, no matter whether on or off-campus, are always ambassadors of WPI. You can help by:

  • Reducing noise. Remember most of your neighbors don’t follow a college student schedule. A general rule of thumb is that if noise can be heard outside your residence after 10 pm, it’s too loud.
  • Minimizing trash around your off-campus housing and cleaning up immediately if you host a social gathering. (Don’t forget, Worcester has a pay-per-bag trash program.)
  • Parking vehicles according to City parking ordinances. Make sure to sign up for notices for street sweeping and snow-related parking bans here.
  • Follow all City laws including noise and open container laws, especially as you walk at night with friends. Worcester authorities have observed an increase in open container violations surrounding the WPI campus. As a reminder, underage possession or consumption of alcohol and carrying an open container at any age are against the law and could result in arrest, and/or judicial action as a violation of the Student Code of Conduct.

By following expectations and community standards, you help ensure WPI remains a strong partner to our neighbors.  Thank you for your commitment to WPI’s values of respect and community.
