Assistant Professor of Operations and Industrial Engineering, Sara Saberi, has received the Norton Assistant Professorship. This chair was created by Norton Company in 1988 for a professor in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field to support a junior faculty member who has shown distinction and potential to be a leader in their field.
Professor Saberi's research work is focused in supply chain networks and future manufacturing. She is a co-PI on several grants with UMass-Lowell on systems that can scale production quickly when rapid pivots are needed (in response to changes in demand, pandemic, etc).
