Springfield, Massachusetts is already experiencing the effects of climate change, with some parts of the community

having a higher likelihood of negative impacts than others. Based on conversations with Springfield residents,

neighborhood council members, local experts, and employees of the City of Springfield government, as well as a

detailed review of the existing Sustainability Plan, this project suggests a set of recommendations that aim to assist

residents who are vulnerable to heat and flooding events, with the goal of improving Springfield’s capabilities to deal

with both long-term climate change impacts and also emergencies.
