Enhancements & Updates for the 2025 Benefits Plan Year

What’s new in 2025? Keep reading to learn more about plan enhancements and premium updates. Although there are a few changes to the WPI benefit plans in 2025, your Open Enrollment is passive, meaning that if you are satisfied with your current coverage and do not want to make any changes, you may not need to take action in Workday. Your current benefits will roll over to 2025. However, if you want to participate in a Health Care and/or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or a Health Savings Account (HSA) in 2025, you must enroll

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care: Plan design changes and premium increases in 2025

Historical inflation continues to drive up the cost of medical supplies, and equipment and workforce shortages are hitting healthcare facilities hard. Health care costs have risen steadily and significantly in the past several years, and WPI has absorbed a large portion of these increases to keep premiums affordable for our faculty and staff.  Due to these reasons out of our control, you will see medical plan premium increases in 2025. We continue to do all we can to keep these increases as low as possible and are making changes to medical plan designs in order to control costs. As a result, you will see some changes to deductibles and copays in 2025. See the medical plan options page in your 2025 Benefits Guide for details.

New: Fertility Coverage - In 2025, members will benefit from the expansion of Fertility Benefits under the WPI Harvard Pilgrim Health Plans. At WPI, we know that everyone’s family forming experience is different. To meet you where you are on your own journey, we are expanding our fertility benefits effective January 1, 2025 to provide coverage for employees who do not currently meet the definition of infertility.
