IT PhD student, Ms. Gayaathri Sankar, is the 2023 GRIE 1st prize winner in the Business and Social Science category. Over 120 presentations were recorded and shared with the WPI community and judges.
In her poster presentation “Developing and Automating Personas for Designing Personalized Health Interventions”, Gayaathri details appropriate User Experience (UX) research methods applied in the research project to design and target personalized health interventions for patients with Type 2 diabetes at UMass Memorial Accountable Care Organization. After developing a set of proto personas to guide translating electronic health records (EHRs) into distinct patient clusters (data personas) a smart engine was developed to identify the relevant patient cluster for a new EHR. This research process allows clinicians to develop personalized health interventions with a focus on fairness and bias while treating various patient populations based on Electronic Health Record (EHR) data.
