Reducing drag and enlarging lift is a constant goal in aeronautics. A lot of simple, but robust devices have been invented for this purpose but researchers are still trying to find sophisticated devices to accomplish this goal. Although Micro Electro Mechanical (MEMS) devices seem promising, they involve mechanical parts that are subject to aging and failure. In recent years, a new type of aerodynamic actuators, using electrical discharges instead of mechanical devices, are of great interest for aeronautics.
