Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) seniors Jing (Joanne) Zhang and Olufunmilayo Olatokunbo Adebayo have developed Worcester-based Family Health Center's new website, which can now be read (and heard) in seven languages, reflecting the city's diverse culture and representing the center's efforts to communicate more effectively with patients. Family Health Center provides daily medical and dental services to more than 21,000 people in over 30 languages. The recently launched website speaks for itself – literally.
In addition to developing the new website, Zhang and Adebayo filmed videos of the health center's staff at WPI. "The students did a wonderful job and worked closely with staff throughout the year to develop the new site," said Noreen Johnson Smith, vice president of development at Family Health Center. "We are very pleased with the results."
Completed in March, the students' work was for an IQP advised by professors Bengisu Tulu and Diane Strong.
"… [Family Health Center] will surely benefit from the new website," Zhang and Adebayo state in their IQP report. "Its patients will now be able to obtain relevant information about the health center as well as recognize that they are indeed the central focus of the center. We hope that this newly created line of communication will be continued via frequent updating of the website. We are confident that it will be successful in catering to patients of all backgrounds, providers, donors, future employees, and other audiences."
