WPI Innovation Award
Do you know a promising STEM innovator who deserves recognition?
For over 160 years, WPI has shaped the next generation of STEM leaders—and we proudly continue this tradition with our new WPI Innovation Award.
This award includes a $25,000 annual scholarship* to a high school junior who demonstrates outstanding potential in STEM fields.
Successful nominees should:
- Be a current high school junior
- Have an unweighted GPA of 3.8 or higher
- Be enrolled in honors or advanced coursework in STEM disciplines
Additionally, nominees should demonstrate innovation in or out of the classroom by:
- Excelling in STEM subjects
- Applying theory to real-world challenges
- Exhibiting curiosity, collaboration, and leadership
- Participating in STEM extracurricular activities or passion projects
Nominations are now open and will close on May 1, 2025. Please allow up to 2 weeks for the processing of your nomination. High school counselors will be notified by email once processing has completed.

I’m a current high school student, can I nominate myself?
No, only a school official can nominate a single student per high school.
I’m the parent of a current high school student, can I nominate my child?
No, only a school official can nominate a single student per high school.
By nominating a student, are they guaranteed admission to WPI?
No, award recipients will still need to apply and be accepted to WPI in order to receive the scholarship.
Is this award offered in addition to the previously offered Book Award?
No, the Innovation Award is intended to replace the previously offered Book Award. This is the only award of its type available for nominations.
How will WPI notify me if my submission has been accepted?
You will receive an automated email confirmation upon submission that your nomination has been received. A member of the Admissions team will be in touch within two weeks.
How will the award be delivered?
Awards will be delivered electronically via email in the form of a PDF certificate.
Will a member of the WPI Admissions team be in attendance at our local awards ceremony to present the award?
Schools are welcome to personally invite a member of the WPI Admissions team to attend, but attendance is at the discretion and availability of the territory managers.
