In this 30,000-square-foot former manufacturing space at 15 Sagamore Road, Facilities crews rebuilt the core and shell of the building to create the infrastructure for five new industrial-scale labs and research centers: Center for Advanced Research in Drying, The Cote Research Lab, Manipulation & Environmental Robotics Lab, Electrochemical Energy Laboratory, and the Laboratory of Intelligent Systems and Structural Dynamics. This facility is also home to WPI’s Robotics Resource Center, and the following student clubs: high powered rocketry club, Formula SAE, and VEX U.
Starting in 2023, WPI also began hosting a Community FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Practice field within Sagamore that is open to all FRC teams. This full-scale, high-fidelity field allows teams to dramatically improve their skills and performance with a place to practice not traditionally available. The practice field is available through advanced sign-up.
