Adding a Photo Gallery
Important Note for Project Centers
From the left-hand navigation menu, click on Plugins. Scroll down to the Galleria plugin and click the activate link beneath the plugin name.
Once the plugin has been activated, it will be added to the Settings menu where you can choose a dark or light background. Go to the Settings menu and click Galleria. There are 3 options you can choose from: Classic Light (with fullscreen button), Classic Dark (with fullscreen button) and Classic Dark (no fullscreen.)
Below is an example of the Classic Light version. The photo gallery features:
- A photo count at the top left
- A fullscreen button at the top right
- Navigation using the Left/Right Arrows
- Navigation using the thumbnail images
- If using Titles & Captions, you will see an "i" button at the bottom left corner of the image. Click on this button for information about the image. Note that this is a toggle button and will stay on until the user clicks the "x" to close it.
The Classic Dark version, as shown below, has 2 variations - with or without the fullscreen option. The button circled in red in the top, right-corner is the fullscreen button. This button will be eliminated if you chose the "no fullscreen" option.
From the Pages menu, edit the page (or create a new page) where you would like to place the photo gallery. Above the page editor, you'll see the Add Media button. Click on this button to add your gallery.
This will pop open a new window where you can create a new gallery. Click on the "Create Gallery" option at the left. Click on the Upload Files tab to select and upload images from your computer. You can also choose from existing images in your media library. Click on the photos you would like to appear in your gallery -- you'll notice that WordPress adds a checkmark next to the photos you have chosen.
As you click on each photo, you'll notice that the information in the right pane changes to display details about the selected photo. In this pane, as shown below, you can enter in an optional title and caption for each photo. Note that the title field defaults to the file name, so you should either change or delete this value. When you are finished entering the photo information, click on the "Create a new gallery" button.
This brings you to the Edit Gallery screen where you can drag & drop the photos to change the order in which they appear in the gallery. You can add titles and captions in the right pane on this screen as well. Once you are done, click on the "Insert Gallery" button.
In the WordPress editor, the gallery will just look like a group of photos as shown below.
To see the actual photo gallery, you will need to either Preview the page or Publish it.
