QUICK SET UP STEPS
BLACK & WHITE
COLOR
- The Movie Lab (Room 310) color printer charges 25¢ per page
- To add to your laptop, Add Printer, point to \\printers\MovieLab
Visit print release station, swipe your WPI ID on the keyboard, choose your print job.
Printing is available at the printer located outside of room 206, near the Information Desk on the main floor of Gordon Library. Single black and white laser printouts cost 10¢ each. Print jobs may be sent to this printer from the Public Access Computers and the various lab computers (for WPI network users) located throughout the library, as well as from laptop computers which can be borrowed from the Information Desk. Printing also is available in the Movie Lab, on the third floor of the library. Single color prints cost 25 ¢ each in the Movie Lab.
WPI faculty, staff, and students can add money to their WPI ID cards to pay for printing and copying, allowing them to carry just one card at the Card Value Machine near the public access computers and reference area. Other users can purchase a separate card good only for library printing and copying.

Printing from the Public Computers
Computers on the main floor labeled LibPAC1, LibPAC2, etc.
- Use the normal printing function in your application. The printer name should be library on printers.
- Please note the name of the PAC computer that you are using, LibPAC1, LibPAC2, etc., and the filename or URL of the document that you are printing. The name of the computer will be the "Owner" of the print job at the Release Station, and the name or URL will be the "Title."
- Go to the Print Release Station PC outside room 206 beyond the Information Desk on the main floor to pay for and print your document, following these directions.
Printing from the Gordon Lab Computers (WPI ADMIN or STUDENT login needed)
WPI login computers are located on the third floor along the windows overlooking Boynton Hill; on the main floor outside room 223 as well as near the Information Desk and Reference Books; in the PC Room on the first floor; and in the Movie Lab on the third floor. )
- Use the normal printing function in your application, and be sure to choose the printer named library on printers.
- Ignore the message that says "access denied, unable to connect."
- Go to the Print Release Station PC outside room 206 beyond the Information Desk on the main floor to pay for and print your document, following these directions. Look for your username under "Owner" on the Release Station screen to identify your document.
- To make color prints, install the Movie Lab printer.
- Click Start, then Printers and Faxes.
- Click add printer.
- Follow the printer wizard, selecting A Network Printer, then Connect to this printer, and type this address in the printer dialog box, \\printers\MovieLab.
- After pressing Next, wait, and then finish the wizard.
- Print your document as usual, selecting MovieLab on printers as the printer.
- Proceed to the print release station in the Movie Lab to pay for and retrieve your document.
Printing from a Laptop Computer
If your laptop is already configured to access the WPI network, you can send print jobs to the black and white printer outside room 206 on the main floor and to the color printer in the Movie Lab on the third floor.
- Login to your ADMIN or STUDENT account.
- Click Start, then Printers and Faxes.
- Click add printer.
- Follow the printer wizard, selecting A Network Printer, then Connect to this printer, and type this address in the printer dialog box, \\printers\Library (case sensitive). Note: type \\printers\MovieLab to choose the color printer in 310 instead.
- After pressing Next, wait, and then finish the wizard.
- Print your document as usual, selecting either library on printers or MovieLab on printers as the printer.
- Proceed to the print release station to pay for and retrieve your document.
Pay for and Print Your Document
The Print Release Station for black and white prints is located outside room 206, beyond the Information Desk, on the main floor of Gordon Library. The release station for color prints is in the Movie Lab on the third floor.
- Swipe your ID card on the keyboard at the Release Station.
- The list of all active print jobs will display, along with your account balance in the lower left corner of the screen.
- Locate your document under the Job Title and Owner columns.
- If you printed from the PACs, look for LibPAC1, LibPAC2, etc., under Owner, depending on which public computer you used.
- If you printed from a laptop, Gordon Lab computer or Movie Lab computer, look for your username under Owner.
- Click once on your print job to select it. The cost will display in the lower left corner of the screen.
- Click on Print to print your document and release it. Your account will be debited 10¢ for each black and white page printed or 25¢ for each color page printed.
- Please be sure to print only YOUR document, not someone else's. Match the Job Title and Owner. Your account will be charged for whatever you print.
Add Money to Your Card
- WPI Students, Faculty and Staff:
- Use your WPI ID card to pay for printing and copying.
- Add money to your WPI Auxiliary Account whenever the library is open at the Card Value Center kiosk located on the main floor outside the Reference/Interlibrary Loan Staff Offices or at the WPI Accounting Office in Boynton Hall during business hours.
- If you go to Accounting, be sure to specify that money should be added to your auxiliary account.
- Library Users Without a WPI ID Card:
- Purchase a printing and copying card from Circulation Desk.
- The card costs $2.50, and is good for 10 ($1.00 worth) prints and or copies in the library. You may use the kiosk to add money to your card.
