Laptop Computer Loans
We provide laptop computers for loan within the library to the WPI community for in library use. This includes faculty, staff and students. The computers are configured to connect to the campus network through wireless technology. (WPI faculty, staff, and students also can use their own laptops in the library to connect to the network or the public printer.)
WPI's IT Division reserves the right to audit and monitor any system, service, and data traffic within the WPI network to enforce the Acceptable Use Policy and to prevent intrusion and instability.

| Charges | Replacement cost of the computer plus a processing fee ($2,000.00) or cost of repair. |

Laptop Borrower Responsibilities
- Laptop borrowers must:
Complete an Equipment Agreement Form
each academic year.- Provide a valid WPI ID.
- Laptop borrowers are responsible for:
- Full replacement cost if the laptop computer or any peripherals charged out to them is lost, or
- Full repair cost charged to the Library's selected repair service if the computer or any peripherals are damaged.
- Laptop borrowers should never leave the laptop computer unattended while it is checked out to them!
- The library assumes no responsibility for files stored on the hard disk or the
recovery of files accidentally left in the hard disk after the
computer has been returned.
- Laptop computers MUST be used within the Gordon
Library.
- If a computer is not returned, it will be considered theft of WPI
property and appropriate action will be taken.
- One laptop will be checked out per person.
- Gordon Library is not responsible for any computer viruses that may be transferred to, or from, a user's USB, CD, or other medium.
- Personal software may not be loaded into the laptop. Laptops are periodically reimaged.
