How to Add an Exchange E-mail Profile in Outlook 2003

  1. Open the Mail Setup dialog box by navigating to the Control Panel and double-click Mail (Classic View).
    Note: If you are using Control Panel Category View, double-click User Accounts, and then click Mail.

  2. Click Show Profiles.

  3. Click Add...

  4. Choose a descriptive Profile Name (such as your username) and click OK.

  5. Choose Add a new e-mail account and click Next.

  6. Choose Microsoft Exchange Server and click Next.

  7. In the Microsoft Exchange Server: field, enter exchangemail.wpi.edu.
    In the User Name: field, enter your WPI username and then click the Check Name button.

  8. If Outlook cannot determine the correct user, because there is more than one match, you might be prompted with the screen below. Simply choose your name from the list and click OK.

  9. Once the Check Name has completed successfully, exchangemail.wpi.edu will resolve to exchangemail.admin.wpi.edu and your User Name: should resolve to your Last Name, First Name.

  10. If all goes well, you should see this screen...

  11. Click Finish, and you will be returned to the Mail Profiles screen. If you have more that one Outlook profile the computer, you can choose Prompt for a profile to be used, that way you will be presented with a list of profiles to choose from each time you open Outlook. Unless you have more than one profile, simply leave it on Always use this profile and choose the profile you just created. Click OK to continue.

If you are a student and you just created your Exchange mailbox, be sure to return to the General Setup page and to finish up the final step!
